Review: Young LDN
Young LDN is a new salon in Notting Hill, specifically created to meet the skincare and beauty needs of tweens (from age 12) and young adults.
The salon was the brainchild of mother-of-two Sue Carroll who was looking for a spa for kids and teenagers could learn to look after their skin.
She couldn’t find anywhere that was teen friendly and that also offered preventative skincare for conditions like acne.
Like most start-ups, she saw a gap in the market, wanted to fill it and the idea of Young LDN was born.
Young LDN is unlike any salon/spa we’ve visited – you can tell teens and their likes and dislikes were at the forefront of the design and creative process.
I took my 12 year old along to see in particular how they work with her age group.
I tried The Nail Lounge which offers a range of manicures and pedicures. I had the Deluxe Mani (£40) with CND Shellac Upgrade (£10) – a 60 minute treatment which includes hand mask, bespoke scrub (choose your own essential oil to accompany your salt scrub) and a half arm massage (with cupping!) for the ultimate in relaxation and hand pampering.
Attention to detail has been well and truly paid – each mani station comes with a Netflix loaded iPad and Beats by Dre headphones so you can binge watch at your leisure.
Their commitment to cleanliness is second to none, all their equipment is sanitised using medical grade autoclave sterilisers, for the ultimate in hygiene.
These tired old hands have never looked or felt so good.
And the 12 year old? She visited The Peel Lounge for a (45 minute to 1 hour) Young Signature Facial with Extractions (£48).
Especially designed for adolescent / teenage skin, it’s an introduction into the world of skin care where they’ll learn to properly cleanse and care for their skin.
Black heads were extracted and she was left with healthier, fresh, hydrated and protected skin.
Her skin was a little flushed immediately after treatment, but it all calmed down within a few minutes.
She’s only 12 so her skin concerns don’t range much above the odd pimple but her skin looked radiant!
You can even continue your skincare and beauty treatments when you get home thanks to their on-site shop and its wide range of products.
All the products used and most of the products sold are chemical free, and the majority of the brands stocked are vegan and cruelty free.
Want a workshop on the latest trends and styles beauty or skincare wise? They offer that too.
