15 of the best bakeries and cake shops in London:
Iconic American establishment The Hummingbird Bakery crafts absolutely delicious cheesecakes, traditional American pies, birthday cakes, brownies and cookies.
We visited the Victoria branch with its customisation station, sleek marble countertops and flashes of signature The Hummingbird Bakery pink, and it was very busy for a random Tuesday afternoon.
In the warmer months, or if the cold doesn’t bother you anyway, treat yourself to a serving of Red Velvet soft serve ice cream.
Locals and tourists pour in for yummy, hearty (generously sized) slices of cake and other sweet treats. We love.

Home to quite possibly the best cinnamon buns in London, Nordic Bakery is everything you imagine a beautiful Scandinavian café to be.
It’s peaceful and clutter-free, with a smell that draws you in (by the nose) when you walk by.
The cinnamon buns are a very generous size and baked on their sides so the sweet cinnamon and butter filling stays inside.
Add a sticky, golden glaze which gives a slightly crunchy bite and it’s a veritable party of joy in your mouth!
Try and visit during Cinnamon Bun Week to join their celebration of one of Scandinavia’s most loved classics – the cinnamon bun.

Blackbird Bakery
When the Blackbird Bakery opened in the Crystal Palace triangle, I remember the queue in the morning for the buttery croissants and rich coffee.
It snaked right around the cake shop in South London!
Now there are eight locations, all strategically placed close to south London train stations so you can grab-and-gobble on your way to work.
Bread, pastries, cakes, sandwiches, savouries and cereals are all made by the bakery.
