Soft Days, Clear Water: A 10-Day Guide to St Lucia
Travelling to the Caribbean island and now sure how to best spend your time?
Check out our family-friendly St Lucia travel itinerary.
We’ve just returned from 12 glorious days in the sunshine and here’s what we got up on a group trip with five adults and children aged 14, 13 and 9.
We stayed with my friend’s parents in Vieux Fort (south of the island) so saved on accommodation costs.
This also meant we could travel around like a local and know the best times and places to visit for an authentic island experience.
How much you do depends on the preferences of your group. You can do nothing but lie on the beach or you can spend every day exploring a new part of the island.
Bear in mind you can travel from top to bottom of the island in about two and a half hours so Saint Lucia is more for slow living than fast paced action.
There’s definitely more to do in the north of the island so if you’re staying at a hotel or Air BnB, I suggest you stay that end.

10 Day St Lucia Travel Itinerary
Day 1
You’ll most likely land in the evening so use whatever time you have left on day one to rest and get used to your accommodation.
Day 2
We were staying in Vieux Fort so kept it local.
Visit Sandy Beach, Anse des Sables. There are two beach cafes you can use for food and drink.
Go horseback riding on the beach. We used Atlantic Shores Riding Stables.

Day 3
- Travel up north to Gros Islet
- Explore the area in the day
- Go to Fish Fry Street Party
- Stay at a local hotel. Our group stayed in a villa at The Landings.

Day 4
- Enjoy breakfast and the facilities at the hotel
- Visit Splash Island Water Park. Locals get a discounted rate so helpful if you know any residents who can book for you!
- Relax at Marigot Bay
- Have dinner at JJ’s Paradise Restaurant for a true Saint Lucian experience. This is where the locals eat.

Day 5
Explore a local beach.
Day 6
- Visit Soufriere
- Have lunch at Dasheene Restaurant, Ladera Hotel for amazing views of the Pitons

- Book lunch and/or a Bean to bar tour at Project Chocolat, Hotel Chocolat, Rabot Estate
- Visit Diamond Falls
- Dinner at Orlando’s

Day 6
- Enjoy a volcano tour and mud bath at Sulphur Springs. We went at 7 am to miss the crowds. Coat yourself in the volcanic black and white mud and bathe in the warm sulphuric (smelly but who cares!) waters for buttery soft skin!
- Have lunch at Sugar Beach Viceroy Hotel (book in advance).
- Spend the rest of the day at the beach.

Day 7
- We were back in Vieux Fort over Christmas
- Hike Cape Moule a Chique
- Relax on a local beach
Day 8
- Visit Castries
- We left the kids with our friends and checked in for two glorious child-free nights at the adults-only all-inclusive Bel Jou Hotel.

Day 9
Spend the day lounging at the pool and eating to your hearts content
Day 10
Check out of the hotel as late as possible.
As long as you vacate the room on time, some will allow you to stay on-site and enjoy the hotel facilities. Don’t leave until you have to!
We travelled back to Vieux Fort and flew home that evening.
If you have time to kill, visit Sandy Beach again and have a pre-flight bite to eat and Cocktail at The Reef Beach Cafe.
We hope you find our St Lucia Travel Itinerary useful in planning your trip to the Caribbean.
