To celebrate the 200th birthday of Queen Victoria on 24th May, The Postal Museum will be treating the first 200 people through the door to entry for just 1p - the same price as the world’s first ever stamp, the Penny Black, when it launched in 1840 (and featured the face of Queen Victoria).
As well as being able to see this priceless object up close, you’ll also be able take a ride on the world-famous Mail Rail as part of your ticket.
The first 200 visitors to The Postal Museum’s on-site café on the same day can also get a tea or coffee for, you guessed it, 1p.
The Museum is also giving free entry to all Victorias throughout the month of May. No matter the origin of your name (Wiktoria, Biktoria, Viktorie, Vittoria) you’ll be eligible for free entry throughout the month of May. All that is required is a valid form of photo ID to prove your link to Her Majesty.
Other activities on offer over half term include:
Royal Wave: Make a Queen Victoria Hand Puppet
Victorian calligraphy and paper making
Printing the Post
Make a Victorian Top Hat or Royal Tiara
Design your ‘Penny Black’ Greetings Card
Entry starts at £3 for all non-Victorias. Book here.
