There's a jam packed week of events - most of which are free - happening at the Museum of London this half term. Highlights include:
Create your own models of a building or a place in London and make it better by sowing cress and other salad seeds onto your model. Take it home and watch your seeds sprout. Then harvest your crop and eat your own ‘micro greens’.
Choose your seed mix, follow the recipe and make your own seed bombs! You will also learn about where you are allowed to use your seed bombs and where you are not.
Green + Beautiful
Imagine a vine growing up Nelson’s Column or foliage around Big Ben! In this art workshop you will make sliding pictures of London. Start with a famous London location and then transform it with an additional layer of green foliage and textures and watch nature reclaim the city! This is a drop- in workshop, so you can stop by anytime.
What can you hear in the museum café, what can you touch in the galleries and what can you see in the display cases? You'll help the museum tell a story using sights, sounds, touch, smells and music as you create an atmospheric adventure through the museum and think about London’s past, present and future.
London Nature Reserves
Learn about hidden treasures nestled amongst London’s urban environment in this recreation of the Camley Street nature reserve hiding behind Kings Cross station. Explore re-creations of wildflowers and learn about pond life, reeds, bugs and bees. Take part in nature rubbings, identify animal footprints and learn about reducing our plastic waste to keep our parks and nature reserves clean for our animal friends.
