Half Term at Discover Children's Story Centre

Discover Children's Story Centre is one of our favourites, they always have wonderful events on for children - usually book themed - and this half term is no exception. Our favourite events include:

The Highway Rat Film Screening

Sunday 1 – Tuesday 3 April
11.30 am

The Highway Rat is about a ravenous rat who craves buns, biscuits and all sweet things. Tearing along the highway, he searches for sugary treats to steal, until his sweet tooth leads him to a sticky end. A swashbuckling tale of bandits and biscuits the whole family will enjoy, based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and produced by Magic Light Pictures.

The Highway Rat will be visiting the Centre between Sunday 1 – Tuesday 3 April.

Egg Hunt

10am – 5pm (drop-in)

Designed by Discover’s Children’s Forum, find the clues around the building and garden to claim your Easter prize! This is a drop-in event and pre-booking is not required.

Join Nimesh on his walk home from school – and you’re in for an amazing adventure! You’ll tiptoe past a dragon, swim with sharks, and maybe even see a princess. Author Ranjit Singhleads this fun event that will ignite young readers’ imaginations!

Uh oh… THERE’S A WALRUS IN MY BED! Kids will listen to author-illustrator Ciara Flood read from her new picture book at this interactive storytelling session and learn how to draw their very own walrus.

A Tale of Everyday Superheroes with Carly Gledhill

Tuesday 10 April
Ages 4+

Meet Monty and Sylvester – the latest super heroes on the block. They’ve read the manual, they’ve got the outfits and now they are raring to go! A brilliantly original picture book about friendship and imagination.
