Hey Duggee, CBeebies’ multi-award-winning show, is the subject of a new exhibition at the Design Museum, marking the start of a partnership between the Museum and BBC Studios.
The ‘Designing Hey Duggee’ exhibition will show how graphic assets and techniques are used to create the distinctive aesthetic and appeal of the show.
The exhibition demonstrates how the composition of simple geometric shapes can convey forms and characters and the position of features can express personality and charisma. It will also host never-before-seen early sketches and reveals the production process behind the animation from creator Studio AKA and its Creative Director, Grant Orchard.
The exhibition hopes to inspire the next generation of animators and to demonstrate the complex design process behind a favourite pre-school show.
Hey Duggee brings smiles, laugher and fun into a child’s day. Duggee, a huggable dog, is the leader of The Squirrel Club, a place where kids (known as the Squirrels) can go to have adventures, try new things and earn badges. Loved by both girls and boys, and much adored by parents too, Hey Duggee inspires children to be energetic, work as a team, explore and problem solve in a safe, happy environment.
The exhibition will be on the Mezzanine of the central atrium of the museum.
