The Great Little Trading Company Flagship Store

If you’re in the market for new kids furniture, you must pop into the new Great Little Trading Company showroom in Wandsworth.

We braved London transport on Marathon Sunday as we crossed from SE to SW London to attend the Great Little Trading Company launch party but fighting the crowds on the DLR was totally worth it.

Even if you aren’t looking right now, I think the showroom is worth popping in to for design inspiration and a place for the kids to explore. They will love it and so will you.

As with most great business, the idea was borne in 1996 when two parents were looking for practical, functional and attractive children’s furniture. They couldn’t find any so decide to create their own.

Fast forward ten years and the brand has new owners (Father of three and CEO, Jamie Reeve) who has steered the British brand to winning “Best Children’s Retailer” award eight times, Best Independent Retailer (2015) and Best Online Retailer (2014). Their range of toys have also won numerous awards for design and for encouraging imaginative and interactive play.

We made the mistake of buying cheaper, flat pack furniture when we had Lily ten years ago but she was pretty destructive so I hate to think how much money we’ve wasted buying wardrobes and chests of drawers over and over again. When I compare that experience with the Stokke highchair we bought when she was six months old that yes, was more expensive but once she outgrew it, we passed it on to her little brother and which now serves as a fully functioning chair for adults.

When it comes to children’s furniture, the temptation may be to buy cheaper but often times the quality just isn’t there. If you can afford it, it’s worth purchasing well made items which stand the test of time (and kids who try and climb up wardrobes/hide in drawers) but also look good once they have left home.

GLTC sell everything you need for the children’s home: beds, mattresses, furniture, bedding, room accessories, toys and handy stuff for school – name labels, desk accessories and educational toys.
