Babymoon - The Latest 'Must' in Things to Do When Pregnant

places to go when pregnant babymoon

If you’re pregnant (or thinking about it) prepare yourself for the sleepless nights, dirty nappies and the rush of love, exhaustion and joy a baby brings by treating yourself to a babymoon.

A babymoon is something of a new phenomenon where parents-to-be looking for places to go when pregnant take a relaxing or romantic holiday before their baby is born.

In the name of 'journalistic research', we tried a basq babymoon break at Weavers' House Spa set inside the 4 star Swan Hotel in Lavenham, Suffolk (2 hours train ride from London’s Liverpool Street).

The hotel is set in the beautiful Suffolk medieval village of Lavenham and is steeped in centuries of history.

With its half-timbered picture-perfect (aka Instagram perfect) exterior, oak beamed interiors, open fires and cosy nooks, the hotel perfectly marries the old and new.

With three dining areas and an on-site bar, you’re never far away from your next meal or snack – necessary info when you’re pregnant! We were somewhat fussy in requesting gluten free and vegan dinners and we were served delicious, local and well-prepared fare.

Weavers' House Spa is the first in England to offer pregnancy treatments using the new, safe and basq pre-natal products from New York.

The spa offers five ‘My Bump and I’ pregnancy massage treatments for mums to be:

  • basq in the moment massage
  • basq skin boosting body exfoliation
  • basq baby bump treatment
  • basq remedy for tired legs
  • basq TLC for mum to be

The basq range uses rich oils, vitamins and minerals to nourish the skin and improve its strength, tone and elasticity to help prevent stretching skin.

The oils and scents are safe for use during pregnancy and all ingredients are clinically tested and are irritant and allergen free.

We tried the ‘basq Skin Boosting Body Exfoliation’ which is designed to help dry, itchy and stretched skin by getting rid of damaged cells and helping skin renew itself.

The treatment starts with dry body brushing, gentle exfoliation (bump included), a quick shower and ends with a generous massage and application of basq Mega Moisture Butter to moisturise the skin.

Attention is paid to the burgeoning belly and you’ll feel safe and in capable hands the entire time – 75 minutes of bliss to be exact. Your babymoon partner can enjoy his or her own treatment or can while away the hours in the spa sauna, steam room, relaxation lounge or heated outdoor vitality pool.

If you're looking for a place to go for a relaxing break when pregnant, try a stay at the Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa and a treatment in Weavers’ House Spa. Rooms start from £185 per night for two sharing including a full Suffolk breakfast. Dinner from the a la carte menu is from £39 per person for three courses.

Overnight guests have a complimentary two-hour session with use of the facilities in Weavers’ House Spa including the sauna, steam room, outdoor vitality pool and relaxation lounge. The basq skin boosting body exfoliation treatment is £100 for 75mins.
