Today is the start of Kids Week – the annual London theatre initiative run by the Society of London Theatre.

Kids Week encourages young people to experience live theatre but recognises the price of tickets can sometimes be prohibitive.

During Kids Week one child aged 16 or under can go free to a wide range of participating shows when accompanied by an adult paying full price. In addition two extra children can go for half price, and there are no booking, postage or transaction fees.

Kids Week also has a fantastic range of free activities and events which include everything from storytelling and backstage tours to choreography and stage combat workshops. The full activity listings can be found at kidsweek.co.uk.

The website also lists of a number of Kids Go Free deals on dining, tours and hotels. All Kids Week offers are subject to availability for specific performances (especially at weekends) and shows on offer may change throughout the promotion so we recommend booking quickly.

The website helpfully sorts shows by age suitability and there’s an option to book a Show & Activity package, where the show ticket also includes a free activity. When booking tickets, we suggest being flexible by having at least three show options and several dates available.

Don’t tell the kids you’re booking until you’ve had confirmation of your tickets as some shows will sell out super quickly.

Kids Theatre Week runs from August 1 to 31 2017.
