Family Urban Gardening at Mobile Garden City, Stratford
Looking for something *free* and environmentally friendly to do with the kids over the summer holidays?
Organic drink HONEST has partnered with charity Groundwork London to champion green spaces and urban gardening and encourage everyone – children and families welcome - to connect with nature via a community garden at Mobile Garden City in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford
HONEST is a new organic, naturally refreshing range of brewed herbal teas whose recent research revealed that the majority of Londoners believe their daily life would be improved if they had easier access to green space.
They's also like to spend more time outdoors and be able to grow their own herbs, fruit and vegetables.
Are you one of the 26% of Londoners who kills a houseplant within 48 hours of taking it home?
Would you like to work on your green fingers or learn exactly what’s involved in growing food to eat?
Round up the kids and take them along to the community garden at Mobile Garden City in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park so they can learn where their food comes from, what it looks like and what it tastes like before it ends up in the supermarket.
All the food, veggies and herbs at Mobile Garden City are organic and chemical free and if you arrive on a Monday through to Wednesday between 5 pm and 7 pm or Friday between 12 pm and 1:30 pm, you and the family can join a gardener on site who’ll lead a food growing session.
If those times don’t suit, you are more than welcome to turn up and join any of the volunteers who are there each day of the week during daylight hours.
All ages and experience levels are welcome – the sessions are very relaxed, kids can play with water, get stuck in (and dirty) in the mini mud kitchen, pick up logs and learn about mini beasts and most importantly, connect with nature.
The community garden moves to Hackney Wick in October but we think it’s a free, fab day out during the summer holidays and in September before the evenings get dark and cool.
